Here is a consideration-
Have a look at the GameStop stock phenomenon........and the possibilities of rearranging Wall Street.
The weirdness continues.

Holy Casino Batman, trading cut off. House changes the rulez mid-game.

Nothing weird here. You and I aren’t allowed to enrich ourselves through the stock market. Only insiders at the political top have that privilege, and if we try to win, “they” change the rules... same as it ever was. We should be thankful “they” let us have modest pension funds.

This is very interesting. A breakthrough from outsiders following rules. Big business as usual or little guys scrambling. Life is so much more real than fiction. Some might say that these are scary times, rather maybe the structural change overseers had not expected. It’s like every day there’s a new wrinkle in the curtain drawn in front of the wizard.

Reportedly, Hedge Fund Melvin Capital lost 53% of its value. There are cries for those "hurt" by this loss. Melvin Capital was hit hard betting an American company- GAMESTOP, would fail.

When folks go to Las Vegas and lose a fortune nobody (but the loser) cries. It should be the same with the hedge fund gamblers. They did it to themselves. There is a fundamental difference between investing and gambling but the "smartest guys in the room" seem to be slow learners.

This wallstreetbets thing is going to end in tears and I suspect it will be the folks looking for the ever-elusive "free lunch" who are going to need the pallet of Kleenex. Hope no one here put their life savings into the market last week. Smells too much like a pyramid scheme.

Quick! Everyone buy Kleenex stock! :idea :lol

My daughter had her second covid vaccination yesterday. She had a miserable night last night. 102 fever and every part of her body was in pain. Annie had to go over this morning and help with the kids. My daughter has administered hundreds of vaccinations and said her reaction is not the norm but it is not rare either. I suggest people have a plan for assistance with necessary activities for 24-36 hours after getting the second shot. Daughter is 35 and in in excellent physical condition and it still kicked her butt. She just texted us to say she is feeling much better so her reaction lasted about 24 hours.

Thankful that she was able to receive the second and is feeling better. Looking forward to the second but not the reaction. The first beat me up pretty well. Good idea about suggesting have someone available to assist if needed.

Things are slowly getting better in Iowa.
14 day positivity is 8.9% and 7 day 6.8%
% Positive Cases average is calculated by the sum total of Individuals Positive divided by the sum total of Total Individuals Tested for the past period of days (14 or 7)
My county, Union County, is 8% 14 day positivity and the 7 day is 6%.

We're ranked 47th in the US on how many vaccines we get and Union County is way down on the priority list so the number of vaccines available is still low.
Last week Union County had 200 vaccines available for the over 65 crowd and you had to call in at a certain time to try and get one.
I passed on that first round because there's people that need it worse than me.
Hopefully the supply increases soon.
It's going to be awhile before Debbie can get a shot since she's not 65.
It helps she retired the end of Jan and no longer exposed to hundreds of people a day.

We're 49th in ID, but what we're getting is getting into arms. More and more folks I talk to have had or have scheduled their first shot. I'm concerned though about folks that are being left behind because they don't have internet access or the where with all to set up an appointment. Tomorrow reaching out to an old (94 years old), friend to go online and get her an appointment. If I don't, I'm not sure how she'll find access.

I think besides setting up the mass vaccination sites, we need to reach out, maybe in teams, in vans going door to door to make sure that folks that don't have access don't fall through the cracks. Originally I was only thinking of folks in rural areas but realize that there are many folks in the cities in the same boat. We need to reach out to folks, not just wait for them to negotiate an often difficult system to get an appointment to come to a vaccination site some where.

Another approach to reaching out may be family practice physicians take a look at their patient lists, identify those who may be eligible either because of pre-existing condition or age and contact them. See if they've received a vaccine, been scheduled to receive a vaccine or need help setting up an appointment. Maybe volunteers could be used to call and help set up appointments.

Excellent!!

. I'm concerned though about folks that are being left behind because they don't have internet access .

Things are already starting to change in our county. The radio announced you can now register online and you can call in on Tuesdays and Thursdays at noon each week.
This info will probably be in the local paper.

My 85 year old friend said he's holding off because he heard the vaccine made beer taste like buttermilk :)
