Service for 1200 GS Adventure

Hi, I'm a Motor Maid on my way to convention in Springfield, MA, and my service light just came on. I have almost 16,000 miles on the bike, and wasn't aware that service was due. Not sure if there are any BMW service centers between Harper's Ferry, WV and Springfield, MA. Will the bike get messed up if I can't get it in? How many extra miles can i go past the service notification time? Thanks, Silvia

I guess the question would be, “when was the bike last in for service”? I’m pretty sure it is a timer set the last time a dealer serviced it?

As a guideline, head over to the A&S Cycles website at https://www.ascycles.com/ (you can even use the "+" tab at the top of your screen so you don't have to leave this page) and click on their "Service Schedules" tab at the top. You can either click on the grouping of R models near the top of that next page, or just scroll down to your year and model.
As long as the oil is reasonably fresh, nothing is likely to be hurt by going the extra miles.
There are shops along the way... the Philadelphia area, New Jersey, and New York.
