The stock rear Brake Switch on '78 bothered me for some reason I can no longer shed light on.
I replaced switch on mine with a barrel-type metal-body brake light switch.
This particular switch found listed as a BL switch on a Chevy Corvair , so not a big seller but obviously compatible with air-cooled boxer engined vehicles having cornering ,er, "limitations".
It took a little tinkersmithing on the frame's mount-bracket hole to accept the larger threaded neck , but the 'ring" or rim remaining on the bracket tab , while scant , is strong'nuf.
Its a dremel job; drilling a hole that big on metal that thin , will grab the bracket at drill break-through and likely destroy it..
