R100RS gathering in the future (?)

Old girls.

Why? Because those bikes are getting scarcer by the year and a special event would encourage more riders to bring out an Airhead rather than ride in on the K-bike or the Oilhead.

Agree. Have an oilhead RS but would love to see the " old girls there" if I could attend!

R100RS / R100S / R90S gathering in 2010....

Again, all inputs and suggestions appreciated! Thanks! ;)

I cannot do it in 2009, but maybe 2010.:german

Again, will watch the BMWMOA rallies for next year and see if there is one that would fit for east / west coast folks - and everyone in between!;)

Yes, maybe Texas /Kansas/Colorado/Utah/New Mexico/Wyoming would work (?)

We'll keep talking about it...and see what develops.;)

I have a 'go-ahead' on an RS gathering at BMW CCA's Oktoberfest in 2010. The question now is, what is it you want? Right now, all I can promise is lots of space for a day gathering.

The track (Road America) may allow on-site camping but I do not know if it will be for an additional charge or how much that might be. I do know that there are showers and usually open food facilities on site. There are also some campgrounds nearby as well as motels, if you prefer. How many would want to camp?

I will look into special rate day passes for the Oktoberfest social events (something generally going on every evening) and events of interest to RS riders. This obviously leaves out the driving events (autocross, road rallies, driver school, and club racing) but I expect we could easily include a nice RS display area at the concours so all the compulsive car cleaners could see compulsively cleaned (or not) bikes. Dedicated parking for events should be do-able.

I will also seek a lunchtime track touring session - essentially moderate-speed on-track parade laps while the corner workers get a lunch break from active duty. Anyone willing to pay $10-$25 for up to an hour of riding around Road America?

Road America in 2010

C.R. Kreiger -

Thanks so much for your kind offer / feedback.

If I had more time off, riding to Elkhart Lake in 2010 would be great. However, >2,200 miles (31.5 hours) one way from the west coast is a long way if you are time constrained. ;) I am thinking one week round-trip from the coast...(?)

Also, I was thinking of riding to a BMW motorcycle rally than a BMW car rally, and I
would most likely "hotel / motel it" rather than camp (just my personal preference...);)

So, at this point, I think I will wait and see what MOA rallies are scheduled for 2010, and maybe one's that are a little closer, (TX / CO maybe?) then, maybe start this thread up again.;)

Best regards,

JJC

Did someone already suggest holding this gathering at 'Burning Man'?

Don't THink So...but not a bad idea

I've never been, but from what I've seen, this is a must-go-to event! That would be cool. A little West for Easties, but hey, the rides the reason, right?

It might be too far East for some but the Mid-Ohio AMA Vintage Motorcyle days could be a location. There is plenty of camping and 40 acres of flea markets.

i'm in ! !

i will be traveling the us this winter with my airstream and RS in the pickup, and this sounds great.:usa

Let's do it somewhere or anywhere! My ol' 78 RS awaits, gassed and sorted (i.e., ready to roll)!

my RS isn't too much of an RS. Can I still hang out? I'll ride anywhere to meet up.
