Pearl Harbor Day

My father - then Ensign Joseph K. Langdell - was the last surviving officer from the USS Arizona, Dad was lucky to be temporarily ashore on Ford Island the morning of the attack. Dad passed away in February 2015 at the age of 100. We buried him with his shipmates in the Arizona on December 7th, 2015.

We went to Pearl Harbor and standing in the memorial was a very solemn moment. It was way more impactful and emotive than I'd anticipated.

Because of that attack, my grandfather went down, signed up for the USMC and shipped out. He left his three kids and wife back in Detroit for a few years before returning home and selling life insurance for 35 years.

Not sure I follow the comment about this being able to be remembered. :dunno

I think he is referring to all the woke stuff that is removing our history like civil war memorials.

Thank you for the comments and remembrances.

This terrible event triggered our involvement in WW2.
I hope that we don’t have a repeat of history.
