Hello all Im just becoming a member of the BMWMOA. I have a couple of motorcycles one of them being my trusty R/80rt (been sitting awhile). I have rebuilt the calipers, serviced front wheel bearings, installed SS brake lines,Rebuilt carbs (need calibration), New metzler tires, Im looking for a competent mechanic to finish the bike so it can be enjoyed again. Bike is in great shape, Any advice would be appreciated. I live in Virginia Beach, Virginia

Welcome to the MOA and the forum! To look for local info, you could try calling some of the people you find from your area in the Anonymous Book...see what ideas they have. There's this list of independent BMW mechanics:

http://micapeak.com/bmw/Airhead-Shops.html

Also this list on IBMWR - https://ibmwr.org/index.php/independent-bmw-mechanics/

You could also contact Anton Largiader in Charlottesville...a bit of a hike for you but he might have some thoughts on the situation - http://vamotorrad.com/.

Thank you
