JOURNEY to my BMW R1100RS pics.

I was able snatch this up off eBay last week. I flew for the first time from North Carolina, and drove it home. Knowing it was a 20 year old bike but maintained properly to 85,000 miles. I took the chance, to drive it all the way back nearly 1,267 miles. It was flawless! And I love it. My first BMW bike.

Well.....the view from above looks good, but I cannot see the bike. LOL! Glad the bike ran well for you on the journey home. Be sure to post some pics of the bike when you get the chance.

Welcome to the forum.

Wow!

You were really flying! Forgive me as I was born and raised as a smart ass kid who grew into a sometimes smart ass adult. Sort of! Well you got the test ride out of the way, you are obviously aware of one of the best forums to assist and guide you while you maintain and repair your R 1100RS. If your bike has the OEM rubber brake lines on it the best investment in your new to you bike would be a complete set of quality stainless steel brake line and a brake fluid flush.

Pictures just came up.

Red Red and more Red. Very nice and I am not an RS fan by any means but darn the bike is sharp. Take my previous advice and replace those OEM rubber lines ASAP.

Ok...there's the rest of the photos! Wow! Beautiful looking scooter you have there. Your bike reminds me of a red '94 K75s I used to ride. Looks like you also have a heated seat? Very comfy for those long cold morning rides.

+1 on the comment about switching to steel-braided brake lines. That's on my list as well, for my new to me '02 R1150RT.

Welcome to the Forum. Those delivery trips are always unforgettable. I had an RS for several years and it was a great bike.

Maybe you could put up a trip report some time.

I have done this many times.......fly out, complete transaction, ride home. It's always a great adventure!
Nice bike. Congrats.

Congratulations on a very wise choice! And the fastest color too!

Mine is closing in on 400,000 miles and still running strong. Couldn't love her more!

I love this bike! I was going to buy a R1150RT, but I couldn't seem to find a clean enough example. For the right budget.

The drive home was great! I was use to the bikes handling within the first 100 miles. And I totally trusted it within 300 miles. I stopped once to check oil. And it was perfect. I didn't need to add any at all. I started driving at night, I drove until morning, and drove until night again, then kept driving and got home past midnight.

The heated seat, and heated grips were very helpful. But there was nothing you could do against the freezing knees. You want to stop, but your almost there. The bike was truly flawless. And it's been 3 days since I've gotten back. I looked, and read, and researched. And I'm glad I bought a BMW bike.

What is the model#/brand of windscreen?

I have a 1997 R1100RS with a teeny tiny windscreen and I need help!

It's a WÜDO. Sticker on bottom of windscreen. Not sure if they are still available -- my dad has a red R1100RS and loves his WÜDO.

Great bikes! Mine is a 2000 R1100RS and I love it. AeroFlow screen in winter, stock screen in summer. The AeroFlow is similar to that WÜDO and appears to be available.

R11rs

I've had two of those, a '94 and a '96. Best looking oilhead ever made! A beautiful bike in the vein of the Airhead RS. Enjoy!

That's a beautiful bike. :thumb

Find you way over to the "Post a Picture of Your Oilhead" thread. You'll find an appreciative audience. :)

Very nice motorcycle. It is immaculate. You can fit hand guards on the RS to keep the cold wind off your hands. Great thing to have in cold weather. They are easily removable...just a few of screws.

The guy I purchased it from was a older fellow, he seemed to have money and a nice garage he kept it in. He kept up with all the servicing, and he has several wind screens he is mailing me. I'm looking forward to getting those.

I just put insurance on it, and got my tag today, and turned my title in for the new one with my name.
