Im putting a cush drive on a 78 along with the better, faster swing arm

I actually lapped the cush joint interface with valve grinding compound, to smooth out the fretting marks and increase the interface area.

There exist a socket that acts a good alignment mandrel ( must maintain proper relation/orientation / centering between the THRUST ADAPTER and the CLUTCH BELL HOUSING or dont bother doing this, plus you have to avoid getting any compound down inside on the D.shaft's wear faces ...
