From 9:00 pm occurred some 130 teams in Classes 1 to 4 on the Hockenheim GP course of the examination period. This was on the racing line for security reasons drastically shortened: Instead of the usual 120 to 130 rounds, this time 40 rounds per team for qualifying for the sprint audit sufficient.

The team sent two Motobike according to the Rules series BMW HP2 sport into the race. The motorcycle with the starting number 151 was piloted by the previous year's winners Markus Barth and Juergen Fuchs. Rico Penzkofer and St?®phane Mertens started with the motorcycle with start number 162nd Both motorcycles were BMW motorcycle Germany.

At the start of the sprint test, as usual, been more than 14 rounds, including a mandatory driver change, recouped radiant sunshine viewers for the long wait in the cold. In Class 4 (four with max. Three cylinders, cylinder capacity without limitation) were 22 teams with motorcycles primarily European manufacturer to the starting line.

Start rider Markus Barth brought HP2 with his sport after a successful Le Mans start quickly a large distance between himself and his pursuers. After the driver change then spooled Juergen Fuchs routinely the remaining rounds, and drove the victory safely home.

Less lucky Rico Penzkofer on the second BMW. In third place, lying, he was in the fall of travelling before him implicated motorcycle and fell. For the Boxer Cup bedrock St?®phane Mertens Sprint Consideration should come back after a long injury break. The loss came the sympathetic Belgians, in turn behind Thomas Reiter replaced, but no longer used.

Markus Barth was looking forward to the race won: "First, a lot of praise to the organisers, with great attention to the really borderline conditions received. Due to the discipline of all participants remained high crash rate. Fact that the timetable had to be postponed several times, with the team for a little excitement care, but that was the same for all participants. motorcycle went splendidly, the team has worked fine and I had a lot of fun here in the race. pity that the blameless Penz after his overthrow in Daytona again caught. "

Motobike team leader Albin Kirchengast beamed: "As early as last year, with the R 1200 S has been shown that BMW motorcycle, especially the HP2 sports, absolutely athletic genes. With the serial version of the Endurance-use machine, we have the strong competition from Mattighofen behind us. We are very happy that we were able to repeat our victory, but I hope for the future even more industry participation in this beautiful and prestigious eventÔÇØ

THE END

Less lucky Rico Penzkofer on the second BMW. In third place, lying, he was in the fall of travelling before him implicated motorcycle and fell.

man, bmw needs to start building cow catchers on the front of their bikes... this happened to thomas hintereiter in daytona, too.

thanks for the daily news, m1ka!

ian

Cow Catchers? Indeed!

Ian,

I think you are on to something! :laugh

From today's Morning Reads

Six cylinder BMW Motorcycle

I know that Honda sells more Gold Wings in the US than BMW sells motorcycles. Learned that in a focus group hosted by BMW. Right now I would rather see an F800GS on the showroom floor than another Light Truck - maybe more correctly - a Large Truck.

I wonder where the sweet spot is in the BMW motorcycle market? If anyone out there was advising BMW where to spend their advertising dollars ... where would you advise BMW to spend those dollars? :german

:lurk

Mika,

Thanks for another great topic for discussion. :thumb
