Wis. Little Ten: West Bend West claims title share
The following headline just seems wrong. Poor little goslings.
West rolls over Goslings
It's been a long time since a regular-season finale meant this much for the West Bend West football program.
Wonder if I can recruit some of their stars for the BenevolentDestroyers. They seem to have a knack and lord knows it wouldnÔÇÖt have any impact on their armature status.

MOTO GUZZI NORGE: COMING SOON
Back in 1928 Giuseppe 'Naco' Guzzi made a journey destined to go down in motorcycling history. Riding a G.T. 500 with the famous elastic frame and built-in suspension, he reached the Arctic Circle. The G.T. 500, later known as the 'Norge' would symbolize Moto Guzzi's capacity for innovation and manufacturing excellence. Today those values are found in the next generation of GT tourer, the Norge 1200. The Norge 1200 represents Moto Guzzi's return to touring. Utilizing tradition and technology, the Norge is driven by the legendary 1200cc 90 degree V-Twin engine. The responsive ride and impressive agility are made possible by a chassis that combines a high strength steel frame with a single sided aluminum swingarm and incorporated reactive drive shaft provides. The integral leg guards and rear mudguards provide complete protection in severe weather. The windshield can be adjusted electrically to adapt to various riding conditions. Whether you are moving through city traffic or traversing mountain passes, the Norge excels in any situation. Stay tuned for details on availability in the U.S.
Max Moto is reporting on an Aprilia 75degree V-4 for a re-entry into WSB racing. It will require a road going version for homologation.

Mission Raid Norge 2006 Accomplished
14 international journalists rode a Moto Guzzi Norge 1200 GT each 5,000 kilometers (approx. 3100 miles) from the factory to the North Cape in the Arctic Circle in 6 days to recreate the legendary trip by Giuseppe Naco Guzzi on the 500 Norge. This recreation of the epic journey of 1928 was only a part of the festivities to celebrate 85 years of Moto Guzzi. More to come at the GMG-Giornate Mondiali Guzzi (World Guzzi Days) at Mandello del Lario in September. Read more about this and the rest of the event on the factories news pages.
The Moto Guzzi US site does not have the Norge listed at this time; however, the U.K. site does.

Wonderings:
Look at the underlying issue before you dismiss the following piece as a cleaver marketing ploy by Moto Guzzi and Vespa to build a data base of potential customers.
Moto Guzzi USA has teamed up with our colleagues at Vespa USA to give motorcyclists the space they deserve - the parking space!
The Vespatition is a grassroots initiative that aims to convert some automobile parking spaces to two-wheel parking spaces. The results will be publicized and sent to your local mayor.
We believe that placing motorcycles in their own two-wheel parking spaces will increase efficiency and convenience for all, four-wheelers and two wheelers, in both urban and suburban communities. This simple concept can be embraced in the public and private sectors - by elected officials and urban planners, building managers and architects.
You can review our suggestions and sign the Vespatition by logging on to MotoGuzzi-US.com and clicking the link parking for motorcycles on the bottom of the page.
I suspect that several of you are either have the property manager for your company reporting to you or the job may be part of your responsibilities. Lacking any of those credentials if you have gotten to this part of this post you are interested in motorcycles. In a past career I spent nine years wearing multiple helmets with a large health care provider in charge of corporate real estate, commuter issues and a few other departments. In that role I developed plans for motorcycle parking. Experience reinforced my belief that this is a win on three levels. I have wondered for a long time why others have not pushed the issue.
For the building owner, providing a designated concrete pad for motorcycle parking, results in less damage to the parking lot along with decreasing the demands on space. How many times have a hot day or an extended park on an asphalt parking lot resulted in you side stand sinking in, even with a big foot or some other stand aid. City building codes normally require a certain number of spaces per square foot of building space. Motorcycles riders allow for a higher density of parking for capacity taxed parking lots.
The net result is a win for the building owner / operator.
The motorcyclist wins with a well thought out designated space. The space should be concrete to avoid the above mentioned parking lot damage. The reality is the damage can be to your motorcycle also in the case of a tip over as a result of a sinking stand. The second requirement is a securely place space. This may be closer to the building or near a guard shack. The result is lowered vandalism for both the rider and the building owner.
The motorcycle manufacturers are a third benefactor from this. There is nothing like having a showroom right where people with jobs are making their money and can talk with actual riders about motorcycles. I can hear you say, ÔÇÿyah but they arenÔÇÖt going to be BMWs so how does that help?ÔÇÖ CO-OPETION.
RidetoWork.org covers the topic well in their article. We are riders committed enough to join a group. Some of us try to ride year round. The Vespa - Moto Guzzi pitch may be correctly dismissed by some as a cleaver marketing ploy. Some of you may laugh at the Ride- to - Work Day people wondering when their commitment to riding is going to catch up with us. I am just wondering why we donÔÇÖt latch on to it as a topic to promote if for no other reason than out of self interest.
Just Wondering.
How will the BMW K1200GT stack up against the new kid from Italy?
Back in May BMW told us about this:
BMW K 1200 GT NAMED AMONG CYCLE WORLDÔÇÖS TEN BEST
Woodcliff Lake, NJ  May 31, 2006 The BMW K 1200 GT has been named one of the top ten motorcycles for 2006 by editors of Cycle World magazine. At the 31st Annual Cycle World Ten Best Bikes awards dinner held this month, the BMW K 1200 GT received the magazines award for Best Sport-Touring Bike, the category for motorcycles designed to combine the best elements of sport riding and touring, covering long distances over multiple days.
ÔÇ£We are honored to have earned another spot on Cycle WorldÔÇÖs coveted top ten list,ÔÇØ commented Arturo Pineiro, Vice President, BMW Motorrad USA. ÔÇ£This is the 13th year BMW has been chosen for a top ten award.ÔÇØ
ÔÇ£This yearÔÇÖs Ten Best recipients show just how good every bike-makerÔÇÖs game has become,ÔÇØ said David Edwards, editor-in-chief of Cycle World. ÔÇ£WeÔÇÖve got motorcycles from eight manufacturers and five different countries.ÔÇØ
ÔÇ£The 311 motorcycles that have received this award over the past 31 years represent the best of motorcycling,ÔÇØ observed Corey Eastman, Cycle WorldÔÇÖs marketing director. ÔÇ£This yearÔÇÖs ten best bikes represent machines that offer unprecedented levels of performance at levels of sophistication that our industry has never before witnessed.ÔÇØ
All winners and runner-ups in the ten different classes can be seen in the July issue of Cycle World.
Since its introduction, the K 1200 GT has strengthened BMW MotorradÔÇÖs worldwide market position in the touring segment. Following the success of the former model bearing the same name, the new K 1200 GT offers added dimensions in riding dynamics and long-distance performance. Innovative wheel guidance systems - the BMW Duolever at the front and the EVO-Paralever at the rear - make a significant contribution to the K 1200 GTÔÇÖs riding prowess. Drive power comes from the cutting-edge in-line four cylinder transverse mounted engine, developing maximum output of 152 bhp setting the benchmark in the touring segment.
Riding comfort is enhanced by excellent protection from wind and weather, the electrically adjustable windshield, ergonomic design of the rider's seat with height adjustment of the seat itself and the handlebar, as well as standard side cases.
The K 1200 GT also meets stringent requirements for environmental compatibility and safety. Apart from a fully controlled three-way catalytic converter, the high-performance EVO brake system with partial-integral anti-lock brakes and an electronic immobilizer are standard features offered by this sophisticated new tourer. Optional equipment includes Electronic Suspension Adjustment (ESA), an on-board computer, cruise control and the BMW Navigator GPS system.
ÔÇ£Given all of these enhancements, features and options, the new K 1200 GT is able to meet the very highest standards of comfort so important to the passionate touring rider, while, at the same time, making the heart of the dyed-in-the-wool sport rider truly skip a beat,ÔÇØ observed Mr. Pineiro.
