KATDASH for Better Lighting?

88bmwjeff

I've seen the ads for KATDASH, and I've read some threads and reviews. First of all, the stock bulb holder is working fine on my 1988 R 100 RT, and I have a backup unit that works well too. But, lighting at night is dismal. So, the only reason to change to the KATDASH would be for better lighting of the instruments. I'm curious for those who may have installed a KATDASH, is the lighting much better? And, what are your thoughts on the issue? Go with the KATDASH or stay stock.

I have an original "beta test" Katdash unit in the instrument cluster of my R60/6. First, YES, the lighting of the dials, as well as the individual lamps is much brighter than the previous incandescant bulbs in the OEM holder. Second, it's still working, no dead LEDs or any other issues. That's almost 8 years, 55,000 miles.

Another thread on KATDASH-

I'd say most of the /6 through GS bikes that go through the shop will either get a Katdash installed or at least see the difference. Less amps, much brighter, and no messing with broken flimsy, power strips on the stock setup.

Takes 1/2 hour start to finish for installation.
