K1100RS Mirror Question

Just had a spring tune up at the dealer for my 1994 K1100 RS. It was dropped off and left in the driveway per my instructions, but when I came home, I merely was wiping down some drizzle that got on the bike, I went to dry the mirror, and it just fell out of the fairing. I actually have owned this bike for 30 years and never had the mirror come off ! My question to all my fellow riders, does this just snap back in with the pins aligned straight to the holes or do you have to line it up first in front of the holes? I got it in, but it looks a little crooked and want to make sure I have it in right so it doesn’t fall off on a ride.

Thanks !

It's been awhile since I had to do that, but as I remember you just line it up. Also I made some tethers out of fishing leader so the mirror won't hit the ground in case the wiring comes loose.

Since my bike is 20 years old, and the female spring clips have spread, I put a dab of silicone adhesive (NOT lubricant!) on the posts before popping the mirror back on.
I've also had to use a kludged bucking bar arrangement to re-mash the rivets that hold the center of the clips.

Yeah, I'll be keeping this... especially after reading the latest in the "new 1300" posts.
