Fix for panniers falling off late model airhead (K bricks) fix?

I've not found this in a search. Looking for the cause and remedy for the panniers falling off my 1993 R100R. This never used to occur but on more recent rides they have fallen off a few times. Locking the latch to the Z mount hasn't helped and one even came off (but didn't fall completely off) when I had a strap around it and the mount. Nothing is broken that I can see but the latch has just a little slop and the plastic mounts are just slightly worn. There is also a small rubber bumper on the latch arm that seems like a replaceable item. Anyone have this problem that were able to correct? If so what parts were the culprit; Z mount, latch rubber bumper, entire latches, etc.? And are parts still available, I didn't see any on Beemer Boneyard. TIA

I simply put black duct tape around pannier holders where the cases felt a bit loose; eighteen years and never lost a case off my old K.

I read on the Internet that the inventor of bungee cords owned an R80/7. I could never confirm that for sure using normal research methods but it certainly makes great sense.
