Does anyone know where to find the engine serial number on a 2010 R1200 RT, and is it necessary to remove any body panels to read it?

I didn't know the engine had one. :scratch

The bike's serial is in front of the handlebars where the tank ends.

Engine number is stamped in front of the right cylinder head on the case. You can see it with a flashlight without removing anything.

How many numbers should engine number have. And what about the frame number location

The engine serial number is NOT in front of the right cylinder. It is stamped in the right side of the engine case, below and towards the rear of the right cylinder and immediately above the right o2 sensor.
