According to flash412, this thread has been drawn off- track and we should be spanked at the very least.

Two points to consider.

1) Economically speaking, the oil companies probably wouldn't want to go there if they were going to loose money. Therefore, I would be willing to consider the likelihood that the reserves present are significant.

2) Alternative energy MUST be developed, for a lot of very good reasons. The fact of the matter is, wind power is controversial. The Sierra Club supports the developement of wind power, but everywhere a wind farm is proposed, there is an interest group that doesn't want one in their back yard.
