Brake pad replacement in 2019+ GS/GSA with replaced Brembo calipers

Hi all!

at 20 000 km, I am due now to replace some brake pads, front and rear,

BMW has done the recall replacement of my calipers, so the old Hayes are gone and I have the big blocky-looking Brembo calipers now,

I've done pad replacements on other bikes like Yamahas and Hondas, this GSA has ABS of course, so my question is - can anyone help me with a list of proper steps to do the pads?

i.e. - is there anything BMW-unique that I should know about? Or can I just unbolt and lift the caliper up and switch out pads? Is there any unique, funky-sort of BMW thing that has to happen?

secondly, any brake pad favourites that you have? I assume that there are various optional brands for hardness/compound etc., or is there a BMW part that should be used?

cheers, thanks all, hope your summer riding was decent,

I believe, but am not certain, that you can pull the pads with the calipers still mounted. If yes, do that then remove the caliper and give it a good cleaning with soap and water and a soft tooth brush. Sorry, I don't have the BMW part # for the tooth brush. :D

Push the pistons back in the caliper making sure you don't overflow your brake reservoir. Install new pads and remount the calipers. Bleed the brakes so you have nice new fluid. Enjoy.

Others will contribute more and possibly better advice.
