Bar end mirror install

Greetings
I have a 1975 R75/6, am installing bar end mirrors. The right side grip is made by BMW and is thick with a nearly squared end. I cut a hole in it and added the bar end mirror BUT it acts like a throttle lock. I've moved it out some and every time I tighten it enough it won't slip it still presses to the grip. Would love some suggestions

That is one of the things I liked about the bar end mirror install. It would allow me to take my hand off the throttle without the instant de-celeration. Of course, I could always slam the throttle closed when necessary.

I never said I didn't like the fact the throttle stays open. TY for the input
