2016 R1200RT ALTERNATOR BELT REPLACEMENT

My comment wasn’t directed toward OP, I was responding to BC1100S’ post. Didn’t mean to hurt anyone’s feelings. I vote we all get a participation trophy and call it a day.
 
The clutch and alternator essentially traded places on the wetheads. The stator portion of the alternator is where the dry clutch assembly used to be at the end of the crankshaft and the wet clutch is where the old alternator belt used to be under the front engine cover.

Some people complain about this because changing the stator is so difficult now (whereas changing the alternator on a 2005 - 2013 RT was pretty easy). I think its better because a clutch is a wear item. The stator could easily last the life of the bike and never need to be touched. Changing the clutch on a wethead is pretty easy whereas changing this on a 2005 - 2013 RT was a huge PITA.
