Hi guys and Gals, Jonesing already with my bikes pickled for the winter. I recently bought a beautiful /5 in the fall. Just getting to know her. You all have been very helpful in fielding my questions. This bike has a "clutch assist?" small chain off the clutch arm. Not good at photos on here. works great. wanted to see what you guys think of this modification on the old airhead clutch. Jim

I've seen various forms of the EZ Clutch. Here is one version of it:

It does cut the effort to pull the hand lever by half. The downside will be that the adjustment for the engagement point must be very specific as the movement of the transmission clutch arm increases by around twice. So, the engagement points for the clutch have to be right in the center as the excess movement on either end is reduced.

Here are some past discussions, one with the highly technical term "Gizmo"!

I will add a bit more to the title to reflect your basic question.

I forget the name of that gadget but it is simple physics. It cuts the effort needed to pull the clutch in half but doubles the length of lever pull needed to disengage the clutch. It was quite a popular device years ago. With everything properly adjusted they worked very well.
