Helmet Hanger

What do people use to hang their helmet on with an R1200R? I just got the R12R last Friday, and love it, but it needs some goodies like a decent helmet hanger, engine guard, rear tire hugger, etc. Do you use any of these? Any warnings or recommendations? Appreciate all the help I can get.

Greg

If you bought a new bike, you get free bags. My helmet fits nicely in one of them.

Come over to the HexHead Land forum.

Hang it on the uphill side passenger footpeg when your bike is on the side stand. Use the chin strap cinched up to do so.

Regardless of the bike I'm riding I usuallly put my gloves in the bottom of the helmet turn it over and put in on the left hand mirrior.

Don't know why other than I always have. Even in the rain everything stays in place and dry, just don't forget to put your hand in and get everything before removing it from the mirror when you come back!

over time, mirrors cause depression in helmet foam, for which Zoloft is not a cure.

no locking bits?

Interesting thoughts on the helmet hangers, but doesn't anyone secure their helmets? I usually have the side bags full of mini-air compressors, road toads, bike covers, tools, gerbing gear, and sometimes I even load them up with junk!

There are of course the license plate frame hangers, which IMHO stink on ice in the looks department. What about a nice low profile something that can be keyed to the ignition key? Anything like that around? Pirates Lair sells something like that for a square frame tube, but nothing for the round tubes of the R1200R. And certainly not at the astronomical prices at Pirates Lair.

Any thoughts appreciated. The idea of leaving my safety hear sitting on the mirror where some stranger could knock it off, let it drop and put it back does not appeal to me.

Thanks

pistol locks, often availble for free from police departments, work great. if i want mine to be secure, i use the stock under seat clips on my R11S. Not all bikes have those however.

My bike on the side stand with the helmet in it's usual "stored" position on the high side passenger foot peg.

Not really relevant I suppose, but you can hang your helmet many places! I always use the Reynolds rack when I ride my '78 RS.
