Watched Paranormal Activity and District 9 last night.

District 9 was pretty good. I really dug the approach and story line. I think they really captured a realistic approach is something like that would or could happen.

Paranormal Activity was pretty creepy. The description read "scariest movie ever made" or something like that...

Blair Witch was creepier and nothing will ever touch the original Chainsaw Massacre. Evil Dead is up there to.

I saw where Peter Jackson put his name on District 9. Anyone remember Bad Taste or Dead Alive? Hilarious and over the top splatter movies.

The Hunt For Red October over and over and over again on AMC:whistle

TCM has been featuring Humphrey Bogart flicks every Wednesday this month, one of my favorite actors.

TERMINATOR SALVATION.

Better than I thought it might be......may have to watch it again tonight (holiday gift).

Some minor cycle mania, but certainly not Beemers.

Still.........entertaining, which sometimes is all that I ask of a movie.

District 9 - awesome, gritty great story behind the story

Terminator Salvation - got Blu ray version from Santa - awesome plus the addtional features behind the scenes

Rise of the Fallen - blu ray again - incrediable CGI and a coupel of funny parts too - definately recommend - also the second dvd with the inside stories and background.

Watched the remake of Friday the 13th - EXCELLENTLY done, better than the orginal, imo, got to see it

And a personal favorite - definately for a mature audience that is not easily offended - Team America

terminator salvation was good and better than i imagined. Rode through Taos NM while they were filming it. It was cool crossing the bridge with all the wrecked vehicles and other movie props in place.

Went and saw Avatar this evening. That was a freaking incredible movie. The look and the story was very well done.

Raging Bull this past weekend: great acting and directing.
Flyboys: story of Americans who joined the French Air Force in WWI. Good flick with lots of great shots of WWI planes in the air.

ALRIGHT........HOLD ON.....TIME-OUT!

We're 10 posts into this topic, and no one has started poking each other in the eye over who's movie is better than who's!

What gives?!

Of late, most postings don't make it this far without some serious mudslinging and name-calling.

Must be that "....and goodwill towards men" thing that comes around this time every year.

Keep up this crap and I swear, I'll start an oil thread! :nra

Unfortunately, I was hoodwinked into watching "Julie & Julia" by my loving wife, instead of the nightly college bowl game. Other than being hungry all night, I got nothing out of it!:scratch:dunno:laugh

Miss my bike so I've been watching Long way down and Long way round, Over and over and over and ............

Well you get the picture ! ! !

I go to the 'movie house' once a year, Christmas day. This year wife and I saw " It's Complicated". If you are middle age, GO SEE THIS MOVIE. Be prepared to laugh your ass off.

Ralph Sims

Watched "District 9" the other night. It wasn't what I expected. I really enjoyed it.

For an interesting parallel to this movie, Google "District 6".

Avatar was amazing. The color, creativity through technology, etc. I was totally entertained. The story line is familiar and predictable, but who cares. It was a real thrill to watch. A must see on the big screen.
Didn't see it in 3D. Don't know that I would want to. My nephew said it was not as sharp (a bit blurry) as the 2D.

I got three seasons of the BBC show Father Ted on DVD for Christmas.

Yeah, I have a twisted sense of humor.....

Saw Avatar in 3D a couple of days ago. Highly recommended, especially in 3D. The direction made really good and artistic use of 3D, and of course, CDI. Because the use is artistic, not flamboyant, it adds to the reality of it all, without distracting -- or the old trick - making you duck when stuff flies by your head.

All in all, a good effort. It seems to me that 3D will be around for a long time, more because of Avatar than despite it.

Yes, the plot is predictable, another Romeo and Juliet in the future. However, the concept and the dimension make it very palatable, I think.
