Searching for Tank bag or leather tank cover

Hey All,

I am looking for a leather tank cover or period correct tank bag for my '82 r100rt. I haven't had much luck looking around the internet and eBay. I am hoping someone here has a hot lead or an extra that they'd be willing to part with.

Welcome to the forum! Pretty rare items. Probably will need to keep trolling all the usual places. IBMWR marketplace, the MOA marketplace (link above) to put in a want ad, maybe try searching all craigslist...there are several URLs along those lines.

Amazon is your friend. :D

I have no knowledge of this product, but it looks pretty darned nice. Well, it's not currently available, made in Ukraine, so might not be available for a while.

There are also several different things available on Etsy.

Back in the day, many airhead riders used a Mustang fuel tank cover, but I think those are no longer available. With any luck, you might be able to score a used one.

Looks like the cover shown below is not full, the Mustang was.

Last, if you buy something like this, I would strongly advise the use of a plastic static wrap sheet to prevent the leather cover from rubbing the paint off the tank as miles pile up.

Leather tank cover

There is one on ebay right now. I put in Used bmw airhead parts. It has a couple of roundels on it and is used. Something to look at. Hope this helps.
