RT GPS replacement

As I am about to purchase a 2022 RT, all I hear about is how confusing the GPS is to work with compared to my Nav 6. Please advise what parts and where to get them to mount a Garmin Zumo XT on the bike since most suggest that unit to use as a replacement. Thanks

While there are a lot of complaints on the Internet about the BMW TFT navigation system, many people (most?) find it perfectly fine and reliable. With the current BMW firmware, most problems arise from the phone rather than the TFT. A significant benefit of using the built in nav system is its integration with the Wonder Wheel which eliminates a possible distraction interacting with an aftermarket solution. This is the biggest reason I've stuck with the TFT solution.

Try 3DAM, make a great conversion unit. Shipping is quick and painless. I have one now in my wife's GS and me in my GSA, flawless, and no more NAV gps's. Use and Nuvi XT now also flawless

Me, too. I also picked up an adapter to let me mount my XT2 in a lockable OE BMW Navigator cradle:

I originally just used a ram mount and Telforizer for my XT but now I use that for my quadlock.

I'm now using the FMS mount and RFT shield to keep the GPS in my sight line better.

I am wanting to do the same on my 22 RT. Did you use BMW part #65901598845 navigator mount with the FMS kit? Thanks.

Hi - that is the GPS kit for the F900’s. I used a cradle from my 2023 R1250RS. That said, I believe the only differences are in how they mount to the specific bike. In my case, I only used the mount body. I doubt it makes much difference which model you use, as the body seems to be universal.

I'm not sure that he was asking whether the BMW mount is _necessary_. It is not. However, I used the BMW mount so that I had a _lockable_ GPS mount for my XT2, and that may be why he was asking about the BMW mount.

All I have is the Nav VI GPS itself. No cradle or mount. I got the Nav VI with my ‘17 RT that had the cradle already in place. I’m trying to figure out if that part # is what I need in addition to FMS’ parts to install on my ‘22 RT. On my ‘17 it was not lockable but on my 900XR it was. That is why I wanted to use the 900XR mount/cradle.
