R850R Headlight reflector shield

Hello all,

I have a '97 R850R. The headlight reflector has a shield that shrouds the main bulb from view from the front. It is held in place by tabs that go through the reflector and bend around the back. It has come loose and one of the tabs is broken. Do I need this gizmo? Anyone know of a repair without replacement of the reflector assembly they're kind of pricey.
