Pennsylvania SuperTech Weekend
From Friday, February 01 2008 - 08:00
To Sunday, February 03 2008 - 12:00

The Pennsylvania Airheads will hold the SuperTech weekend event this winter in Boyertown, PA 19512 (about 50 miles northwest of Philadelphia, PA). This extravaganza of airhead tech and training sessions will build on the success of the 2007 event and be the best ever.

The very special guest, and Keynote speaker at the Saturday night banquet, will be the world renowned collector of vintage BMW motorcycles Peter Nettesheim from Huntington, New York. Peter was the curator of the year long BMW: Mastery of Speed exhibit at the AMA Hall of Fame Museum which also contained much of PeterÔÇÖs personal collection. Anyone who has enjoyed the vintage displays at recent BMW MOA National rallies has seen many of PeterÔÇÖs bikes as well as curatorial talents and his passion for restoration. His accomplishments have been written up numerous times including in the BMW MOA Owners News in February 2004 (with a cover shot). His knowledge about BMW motorcycle history and the restoration and preservation of these fine machines is outstanding and he will bring that knowledge to Boyertown this year.

This year, with financial support from the BMW MOA Foundation and Markel Insurance, we will bring in Accident Scene Management Inc, to hold ÔÇ£A Crash Course for the MotorcyclistÔÇØ all day Friday. The course will be open to 25 SuperTech attendees who arrive a day early and benefit from some great training on what to do for yourself and others at a motorcycle accident scene. This course is being taught all over the country including at the recent MOA National Rallies. Study their website www.accidentscene.net/ for information on the course. VERY valuable stuff that can save lives (yours and others).

We will then gather for lies and tire kicking on Friday night for those arriving early and the tech sessions will begin at 8:00am on Saturday morning, running all day. Training sessions will cover how systems and components work, how to maintain and overhaul them, how to ÔÇ£git out of trouble on the side of the roadÔÇØ and how to keep these great bikes safe and reliable. Sessions will focus mainly on the ÔÇÿlaterÔÇÖ airheads from /5 through end of production though to Peter ÔÇ£later airheadsÔÇØ means those made after 1930. All the famous cut-away and demo stuff will be there. WeÔÇÖll bring in lunch and finish the day around 5pm. The banquet dinner that evening will start around 6:00 for more tire kicking time with Peter and the other instructors, then dinner and PeterÔÇÖs fascinating presentation.

Sessions will begin again Sunday morning and activities will conclude by noon so everyone will be able to travel home that afternoon. This will be a unique opportunity to get valuable maintenance, trouble shooting and restoration knowledge and to defeat the winter doldrums and PMS (Parked Motorcycle Syndrome). Great info, great camaraderie and great time with world famous airhead experts.

Our goal is to maximize the value to those attending so only 25 student slots are available for the Friday safety course and 60 student slots for the main SuperTech sessions . Attendance is on a pre-registration basis only. Fees will be:

$30 for the Friday Accident Scene Management training course (includes lunch)
$95 for Airheads Beemer Club members for the Tech Sessions & Banquet
$105 for non-members for the Tech Sessions & Banquet
Limited seating is available for spouses at the banquet for an additional $30 per head. (A very nice affair and there are many things for spouses to do while youÔÇÖre at the Tech sessions)

Registration opens December 1st, 2007. Send a check for the total amount to Bob Sipp at 2188 Johnston Ave, Bethlehem, PA 18015. Please include, typed on a separate sheet, your name, address, phone number, email address and ABC membership number to facilitate contacting you with further details. Bob can be reached at bmwbob@ptd.netThis e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it if needed but only received checks will count. ItÔÇÖs only fair to everyone. Once the max student number is reached we will hold further checks on a standby list and return them after the weekend has completed.

We will be supplying further details regarding motel and airport info, maps, schedules and driving directions to students after they register. Please do not drag your feet on this one. This event sold out in 8 days last year and slots may again fill up fast. We look forward to seeing you there and having a great weekend together.
