Here's our RV, truck and bike, all in one picture. ;) Truck is a F450, RV is a Luxe 44FB with a ~11ft garage in the back. We use the PitBull to secure the bike, absolutely love that system (it grabs it from the rear axle, no straps).

Thanks all for the replies and suggestions. Will post what we end up doing.

We will be bringing two bikes to the Rally. Both will be mounted on a rear rack attached to the hitch receiver.

We are holding off on the motorcycle lift for the time being, and decided not to trailer, as we would not get sufficient usage over the planned six week trip and sightseeing along our planned 7500 mile trek.

Looking forward to seeing lots of rigs and meeting the people behind the names. We’ll be in the Rally RV Campground along with our mountain bikes. 😁

Our set up, Would love a big toy Hauler but just don't have the space to store one. The flat trailer just works and I can man handle it around when disconnected. The Camper is relatively new to us and I immediately started modifying. Took the Microwave out to get more cupboard space, Deep sixed the TV. Ripped out the generator and added 400 AHs of Lithium, 800 watts of solar and a 2000 watt inverter. On the scales it's a tad heavy but my Old GMC doesn't seem to care as long as I feed it lots of fuel, LOTS of Fuel. LOL

Nice! Arctic Fox makes a nice camper. Your truck may be old but it’s what it should be- dual rear wheels. As far as fuel, most RV systems result in about 8 mpg.
Hopefully all the modifications, especially the solar, work out.
Pretty sure that camper new is around $65K nowadays.
Good luck with it.

Try damn near a hundred up here depending on options. We bought it used and lightly abused, perfect for us. The solar system is working perfectly.. Lots of camper yoga and research re-wiring things but in the end worth it. I hated the generator and its space was perfect to house the batteries, inverter and wiring plus I lost overall weight in the process.
As far as the old truck, I have had it forever, acquired in a horse trade cause it had a blown motor.. Built a Stroker 454 with a few other mods, chugs along like the camper isn't even there, hills excluded,, I don't push it.. About 30 litres per hundred Kilos You do the Math :giggle:

Wiring going together in the Generator box-- Victron makes a nice distribution centre but I just didn't have room, these buss bars will have to do. Not ideal but hey!

4 batteries, inverter, shunt, wiring.

800 watts, 2 in series, the two pairs in parallel As you can see, no room for a big trailer and yes the camper fits between the house and the fence, just :)

Cleaned up a ton of wiring, my goodness, RVs!!

Solar charge control tucked nicely here.

As did the DC to DC here. I could have gone bigger with this controller but hey, I'm working with an old GMC alternator

All in all really pleased with my set up, going to add one of Victron's Cerbo GX and screen.. That way I can better monitor things and add some properly working tank sensors. Got to know when that black is getting full

Looking great! That is a lot of work. I take it there is still an outlet for “shore” power and charging?

Yes, I removed the AC switch between the generator, shore input and output to the 110 breaker panel. Installed a junction box. The Victron inverter switches seamlessly between shore input, charger or inverter. Has a built in 80 amp charger that you can adjust for input with the app. So if you have 30 amp shore power perfect, but if it is only 15 you adjust so it doesn't pull more than supply and blows the shore breaker. The one time this summer after several rainy days and with shade on our panels our batteries got a tad low,, 50% ish.. I ran my little 1000 watt Yamaha generator I brought just as back up just to see. I was able to adjust the Charger down to only pull 7 amps from the generator but it was charging the batteries at 40 ish amps.. Kinda cool

You are doing really well figuring all this out! 👍

Thank you but I had great resources. You tube. Ha! My Sister has been in the business of Solar and Off Grid living for years, plus I know my way around electrical mostly. She got me most of the Victron stuff and mentored me in a few areas.
Things like this we had to get together on, the inverter needs to be set up via the on-line Victron program. Took some figuring as none of the pass words we had would work. Victron or their local distributor was very helpful. The rest is all figuring out where wires are run, what size to use, whether things fit and cutting holes where you don't know what's behind. :giggle:
A Cerbo GX and Screen would have made this step simpler
