About to head there with 3 buddies for small tour. Any suggestions on routes or good spots to eat or stay would be more than welcome.

Thanks and happy trails!

Hit the Cabot trail for sure you will not be disappointed, plenty of seafood to enjoy

Make sure you do the Cabot Trail counter clockwise, that way you are on the outside not having look through traffic to view the sights.

NS and points north

Thanks All, looks like we're headed to Baddeck and the Cabot Trail. So you're suggesting we head East from Baddeck and circle the trail counter-clockwise? And this is to avoid traffic b/c everyone else goes clockwise?

Thanks again, and safe travels,

James

Counter clockwise results in the view of the ocean being on your right and unobstructed by oncoming traffic. However, I recall plenty of places to pull over on the Cabot Trail to get pics and enjoy the views.

I went to NS last year, and it was a trip of a lifetime. Based on a suggestion from another member here we stayed at McIntyres housekeeping cottages in Baddeck. We used it as base camp for Cabot Trail. Stayed there 3 days (in case of rain). Great place to stay owners are nice folks. Cabot trail is right there, I was going to go counter clockwise as almost everyone suggests, but was talked out of it by one of the owners, I forget her name. It was great and glad we went CLOCKWISE..

While on the trail, if you want to grab some lunch, I'd suggest the Coastal Waters Resturant. Takes a little time to get the food but it's good.

I was not really impressed with the food in most of Nova Scotia. However if you stop in Halifax, you must visit The Bicycle Thief. That food was fantastic, pricey, but worth every penny.

The lighthouse route in the south coast is really great, stop into Peggy's Cove. The whole place is just perfect for riding, as the roads are pretty much empty. If your in the Annapolis valley, the Old Orchard Inm is a nice place to stay.

Have fun!!

Make use of the tourist info centers. If you go to one in the am, you can get a good price on a room in the next town you want to stay that night. The people who work there are supper nice.

We took our K75 up a few years ago and had a great time. Prepare for rain, but we only had two days out of 10, and we used the rain days for museums ect.

Tour Nova Scotia

I live in North Sydney Cape Breton and just a few minutes from the cabot Trail. Yes the cabot Trail is a DO NOT MISS, but navigating the costal road around the entire province is just plain Fantastic and worth about a week to enjoy it all properly. Next to no traffic and the accomodations here are free with a great place to rest or work on the bike. Check it out in the Anoymous Book as I am the only one and one of just a couple BMW riders in all of Cape Breton. Cheers Daryll

I haven't been up that way in quite a while...are there additional restrictions for entering Nova Scotia ? Post 9/11.
