NJ Shore September 16th-18th, Oktoberfest Weekend in the German Catskill Alps

Folks,

Our local club has run an event for the past 4 years that coincided with the Hunter Mountain "Colors in the Catskills".. (October)

Due to the consistently miserable weather we've experienced that weekend, and the diminishing interest in CinC (it was down to almost no motorcycle vendors last year - just MAX-BMW), plus the availability of a weekend in September, we decided to move our event back a few weeks and invite other clubs from the area.

The NJSBMWR makes nothing from the event. There are (at the moment, but that could change) no door prizes. What there is - is comfortable lodging, 6 fabulous meals, and a German Beer-Hall with real German/Austrian bands on Friday and Saturday night, plus a wide variety of great German beer on tap.

We hold it at the Crystal-Brook Resort, Round Top, NY. It's the weekend of September 16th-18th. Arrive for dinner Friday night, leave after lunch on Sunday. Less then 2 hours from NYC, not that far from Albany, Boston, it provides a great venue and great riding. It has been quite popular with couples. We usually plan a ride on Saturday to Motorcyclepedia - about a 1 hour ride away.

We'd like to welcome anyone from the BMW community to join us. NJSBMWR handles no money - that's between you and the resort. For more info please see: http://www.njsbmwr.org/octoberfest2016.html

Any questions - feel free to ask!

I have been attending this event from the onset, the Crystal Brook Lodge does an outstanding job with the meals served and the Beer Hall always is a source of entertainment. Come out and join us for a relaxing weekend with good roads, good food and good friends.:wave:wave:

Sent in my deposit weeks ago and confirmed receipt by Wendy over the phone but have received nothing form her in the way of a reservation confirmation via regular or e-mail. Is that normally how its done?

Eventually you'll probably get something. If you're concerned - give her a call (not around mealtime, she's busy) and I'm sure she'll get something out to you.

Two days lodging with 6 meals for less than $200 per head. Is that what I read? Sounds affordable.

I attended last year's event. Still had a great time despite a nor'easter storm that rolled up along the east coast (as Don said, previous Octoberfests have been rainy). Lots of great German food, awesome company, great music at the beer hall and beautiful scenery. I can't commit to it yet but would love to.

Received registration confirmation from Wendy in the mail today. So far....so good :)

Rocketman - look forward to meeting you there. I haven't checked with Wendy on our head count, but I think it will be a good event with lots of BMW people there.

NJ Shore Riders weekend

Just a short note thanking the NJSBMWR club and Don Eilenberger for putting this event together. I was unable to attend the entire event due to other conflicts. but was still warmly welcomed. I contacted Wendy at the venue, explained my particular situation, and arranged to arrive Saturday afternoon, partake of Saturday night dinner and Sunday morning breakfast for a very reasonable price.

My 1988 RS had just been renewed front to back after 100,000 miles that Friday. Took off Saturday around noon for a shakedown cruise through the Catskills to make sure everything was working properly and was very pleased to find a new bike feeling under my butt. I do love riding this bike ! Put on about 150 miles before arriving at the Crystal Brook Resort, approximately 60 "crow miles" from home. Had ample time to check in, unload saddlebags and relax before 6:30 dinner. Dinner was served "family style" with no shortage of choices or quantity. Quality and preparation of the food was excellent. After dinner, we adjourned to the adjacent biergarten hall for not one, but two different ensembles playing just what sort of music you might expect (Stairway to Heaven was not on the set list) in a very professional and spirited manner. Between sets there was a very special ceremony to enjoy. I won't spoil the surprise, but Don did immortalize it on his webpage, Facebook or some place in the social media universe. Sunday morning breakfast was just as good as dinner and provided me with just what I required to get back on the road.

The venue was very nice, clean, good beds, TV and A/C in my room. Not the sort of venue Mr. Trump might attach his name to, but it was just fine for me to relax in the company of like minded riders and their spouses for a most enjoyable laid back weekend.

If possible, I will be back next year. I would encourage you to consider attending this event as well. Great area to ride in, very nice facility, friendly staff, reasonable pricing and excellent Gemucklichkeit as well.

Michael,

Thanks MUCH for the very kind words, and thanks also for attending. We did have a great time. I'll be posting up a video of the Schlachfest ceremony.. it has to be seen to be believed.

Thanks again!
