Hi all. I have a 1973 R60/5 which I've owned for 32+ years. For 31 years it sat, untouched in my enclosed garage.
Bought it with my Dad from the original owner, who told me it was running 5 years prior.
He had ordered the bike new and picked it up in Europe. He travelled all over and shipped it to Canada. I still have some papers etc stamped from Belgium. I think the bike handlebars are the low European versions.
The bike also came with one left hand mirror. The carbs are Bing 53.

Our goal back then was to get it running but that never happened due to work, family and life in general. Oh and a huge wipeout on a dirt bike that year that soured me on riding for a long while..

Fast forward to January 2024. I decided to go out and look it over.
Using many sources on the internet I replaced parts, cleaned it, tuned it up and got it running. I'll try to post the first startup video. For now think lots of various colours of smoke and odd sounds! It's now tuned up running (to the best of my ability) well.
I'm happy I am able to share the story of this bike to the BMW community and see what others have! Thanks

Hello Nvtaco; good on U for finishing the “Project Bike!"
Enjoy those times when you’re able to sojourn around the PNW. You seemed to have done a splendid job; hope it brings U many Miles & Smiles (inside your helmet)!

You might also want to invest some $ and time finding your local chapter of the Airheads Beemer Club!

I humbly recommend that U contact the "BC Airmarshal,” George, in Armstrong for connectivity purposes:

HSV-Phil & HSV-Karen send our Happy New Year wishes to U, staying tonight at the “Grand Suites Lake Tekapo” in the gorgeous Mackenzie district of central south-island NZ where it’s sunny & warm this evening @2106.

Ciao from the scenic Tennessee River Valley of north Alabama!

Hi neighbor, I too have an old airhead with a hack attached. Over 100,000 miles now. I'm in the anonymous book on Vancouver Island.Let me know if you are in my rainforest. Cheers
