Motorcycle transport companies

I would like advice regarding shipping my bike from the Hudson Valley of NY to Portland, OR. Any companies to avoid? Any companies that provide excellent service? Thanks

Welcome to the forum!

If you enter -shipping companies- into the Tag Cloud search, (search forums from the lower tool bar) there are a number of threads on the subject.
Good luck.

Based on reading forum posts I think this is a little bit of a crapshoot. Many, but not all of the transport services seem to earn both good and bad, or maybe great and horrible comments. My advice: read carefully and check on insurance.

That's very true since 2020.
Going from NY to OR the bike might be dropped off at one or two warehouses on the way and sitting there for a few weeks for another truck headed to OR.
It would be nice to find a small independent operator, but that might be expensive for a cross country transport.

I've had good luck with Haulbikes.

I’ve used Lost Highway Tour & Transport to move my Vincent and my BMW. Other Vincent owners have used him as well..completely trustworthy, insured, reasonably priced.

kickstandup and chasmrider, when was the last time you used Haul Bikes?
Since 2020 a lot of trucking companies are having driver shortage problems.
I even see good companies like Haul Bikes having problems moving bikes in a timely manner.

I've used Haulbikes a couple of times, but the last was in 2017. I was in Utah on my GS and managed to "crash without falling off," breaking my left ankle in the process. Rode the bike about 70 miles back to the hotel in Mexican Hat, and arranged for Haulbikes to pick it up. Whole process went smoothly, bike showed up a couple weeks later.

Your point is well taken, though. I've heard that they, and others, have had problems getting drivers, leading to delays. I was impressed by their dedicated trucks, enclosed and designed specifically for bikes.

I find current reports of service providers to be extremely important. Things and situations change so quickly nowadays, duplicating experiences is something I find rather difficult. :dunno

I used them January 2021, they delivered no troubles

I used Haul Bikes to relocate my R1200RS from MN to AZ in November 2023. Was a painless process, bike picked up and delivered as promised. You can save yourself $100 with Haul Bikes if they can pick uo in a large parking lot or at a dealer and drop off the same. They picked mine up at a dealer and dropped off at a Walgreens. Trucks are large so they prefer not to go in to residential areas and will not go in to a gated community. It is the 3rd bike they have moved for me and never had one issue.
