Still Wondering
Happy Birthday
There is a nugget of an exciting rumor I have been wondering about for some time in this article from cmgonline.com. While the main focus of the piece is the BMW Superbike teases are made about a 3 cylinder version in the 675 range ala Triumph. The K75 has a very loyal following. With its departure there always seemed to be a hole in the line up, particularly with the lack of an S version. For all sorts of reasons I think this would be a brilliant idea.

BMW GROUP IS ONCE AGAIN MOST SUSTAINABLE AUTOMOTIVE COMPANY
09/04/2008
For the fourth consecutive year the BMW Group is sector leader in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index World.
The SAM Group published its latest evaluation for the Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes (DJSI) today. For the fourth year in a row the BMW Group leads its sector, and as such, is the world's most sustainable automobile manufacturer. The BMW Group is the only company in its industry to have been listed in this important collection of corporate sustainability indexes every year since they were established in 1999.
The BMW Group's Board of Management defined sustainability as a key corporate principle back in 2000. Sustainability throughout the supply chain, comprehensive product responsibility and consistent conservation of resources are firmly anchored in the company's processes. The BMW Group is using its strategy for sustainable mobility - which encompasses efficiency increases and further electrification of the power train through to the long-term use of hydrogen - to reduce the CO2 emissions of its entire vehicle fleet. Production sites are minimising their environmental impact and conserving resources. High social standards for the employees of the BMW Group have also been implemented at all locations for decades. More detailed information is available at www.bmwgroup.com/responsibility.
The SAM Group analyses the economic, environmental and social performance of approximately 2500 companies and selects the best in each sector for the Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes. General sustainability criteria are considered as well as industry-specific challenges such as climate change. The Dow Jones Sustainability Index was the first global sustainability index to be created, in 1999, and has since been published each year by the SAM Group, based in Zurich, in cooperation with Dow Jones Indexes and STOXX Ltd.. Wonderings
Time to light the birthday lance; Morning Reads is two years old.
I have been doing a bit of navel gazing in anticipation of this day.
First an apology to Vince and Mandy; navel gazing and life got in the way.
Two: I am not certain what will happen with this recurring thread. I doubt it will go away, I am still having fun doing the reading and research that goes into it. However; I am growing a bit tired of being an aggregator. It has its purpose. I appreciate the other news services and aggregators I use as resources. It just that it is getting awfully quiet in here for me.
Three: I wll be putting rolling out the mileage contest the end of this month or the beginning of October.
Enough with the navel gazing; time to get the lint out, clean up and go for a ride. The youngest member of the pit crew turns one today and there are presents to buy. Wonder if he is big enough to reach the pegs on an XCountry?
Bike Candy
TodayÔÇÖs Bike Candy comes from vintagebike.co.uk and is my favorite bike I have found in the past two years. The workmanship appears great. The bike is beautiful, even if my sophomore teacher told us we could not apply beautiful to mechanical things.
The most intriguing thing about the bike is a certain creative tension in the design. Caf?® Racers are lithe creatures built to crack the ton between caf?® and petrol stops. This bike reeks of the caf?® genre yet the large tank means ridding range. A bike intended for rides on wonderful winding roads to cafes much farther apart than the average BMW dealer is from a MOA member.
