BMW Motorrad Summerfest celebration debuts this summer

Whitby. BMW Motorrad Canada will host the first annual BMW Motorrad Summerfest at the beautiful countryside setting of Mosport International Raceway from July 13 through 15.
The first event of its type in North America, BMW Motorrad Summerfest will celebrate the world of BMW Motorrad with a plethora of BMW attractions and activities and has been strategically scheduled to coincide with Rounds four and five of the Parts Canada Superbike Championship, attracting motorcycle racing enthusiasts from across Canada.

Set on 500,000 square feet of fresh pavement in HoodsportÔÇÖs infield, the BMW Motorrad Summerfest will feature:

* A full display of 2007 BMW Motorcycles with opportunities for on and off-road test rides

* High-mileage awards for dedicated BMW owners

* In true German tradition ÔÇô a BMW Motorrad Beer Garden
The BMW Motorrad Summerfest was inspired by the popular BMW Motorrad Biker Meeting, recently renamed BMW Motorrad Days, held in July for the last six years in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany, regularly attracting motorcycle enthusiasts from around the world.

Like its German counterpart, BMW Motorrad Summerfest is open to motorcycle enthusiasts of all stripes and brands. A $50 admission fee to BMW Motorrad Summerfest covers weekend admission to the Parts Canada Superbike Championship double-header, parking and camping privileges, a BMW Welcome Package and all Summerfest activities, including the Saturday Concert Series.

In conjunction with the BMW Motorrad Summerfest, a March of Dimes charity ride will start from each of the Southern Ontario BMW Motorrad Retailers and makes its way to Mosport and the BMW Motorrad Summerfest event. BMW Toronto, Open Road BMW in Newmarket, BuddÔÇÖs BMW in Oakville, BMW Durham in Whitby and Wolf BMW in London will host the March of Dimes charity rides individually for their local BMW motorcycle enthusiasts, with proceeds going to support the March of Dimes efforts for the disabled.

The 2007 BMW Motorrad Summerfest debuts an exclusive event which will become an annual tradition at BMW Motorrad Canada, with plans to hold Summerfest at venues across Canada in future years.

"The sportiest cars of 2007": The BMW Group claims eight titles in "sport auto" readers' vote.

Munich. It is not very often that the outstanding significance of the BMW Group as a producer of exceedingly dynamic vehicles is so highly rated as in the most recent readers' voting held by the car magazine "sport auto". Models of the BMW and MINI brands were the winners in eight of the 14 categories reserved for series production vehicles. Three third places and two third places round off the German premium manufacturer's dominance in the poll for the "sportiest cars of 2007", in which the BMW Group also managed to seize two double victories. The new BMW M3 took the most notable lead, acquiring 67 percent of all readers' votes in its category.

The search was on for "the sportiest cars of 2007". Two- and four-seaters, saloons and coupes, convertibles and roadsters, diesel- and petrol-driven vehicles were up for nomination in categories that were subdivided according to vehicle segment and market price, the respective BMW Group models being noticeably popular with the "sport auto" readers. Not only did they gain the highest number of victories, but also the highest share of votes. In addition to the BMW M3, the BMW 335d Coupe (50.4 percent in the diesel category from 35 000 Euros), the BMW M5 (42.4 percent in the saloon category from 90 000 Euros), the BMW 335i (40.5 percent in the saloon category up to 45 000 Euros) and the MINI Cooper S (40.0 percent in the small car category), were all tremendously successful.

Here is an overview of the ratings for BMW Group models:

MINI Cooper S Winner small car segment
BMW 130i 2nd place compact class
BMW 120d Winner diesels up to 35 000 Euros
BMW 335d Coupe Winner diesels from 35 000 Euros
BMW 335i Winner saloons up to 45 000 Euros
BMW M3 Winner saloons up to 90 000 Euros
BMW M5 Winner saloons from 90 000 Euros
BMW Z4 Roadster 2.5si 3rd place convert./roadsters up to 40 000 Euros
BMW Z4 M Roadster Winner convert./roadsters up to 80 000 Euros
BMW 335i Convertible 2nd place convert./roadsters up to 80 000 Euros
BMW 335i Coupe Winner coupes up to 45 000 Euros
BMW Z4 Roadster 3.0si 2nd place coupes up to 45 000 Euros
BMW Z4 M Coupe 3rd place coupes up to 90 000 Euro

With this array of titles and outstanding ratings the BMW Group continues its current series of successes at national and international competitions. Only just a few weeks ago at the 2007 "International Engine of the Year Award", the BMW Group was not only best in six individual categories, but also received the highest marks in the overall rating. The prizes for the "sportiest cars of 2007" will be awarded on 26 May 2007 within the framework of the "sport auto" Track Day at the Hockenheimring.

72.4mpg. 104 g/km C02. No batteries required

MINI hatch models are to receive technological revisions later this year, resulting in jaw-dropping performance and efficiency figures. Already BMW GroupÔÇÖs cleanest ever car, the MINI Cooper D will be capable of returning an astonishing 72.4mpg, with CO2 emissions of just 104 g/km.
When production of the revised models begins in August 2007, there will be no requirement for alternative fuel sources or hybrid technology to achieve these stunning stats. All model variants will instead be supplied as standard with high-tech engine tweaks, providing exceptional economy and minimal emissions without compromising the MINI driving experience.

Brake Energy Regeneration, Auto Start-Stop Function and Switch Point Display complete a package that will come at no extra cost to future MINI customers.

Brake Energy Regeneration works by using an Intelligent Alternator Control (IAC) and an Absorbent Glass Mat battery to recycle previously lost energy, which saves fuel. The IAC reduces drag on the engine by only engaging when required to charge the battery, whereas a traditional alternator is always pulling power from the engine. Additionally, the energy generated by the engine on over-run (under braking or descending a hill) was previously wasted. Now this lost energy is utilised by the IAC to charge the battery.

The Auto Start-Stop Function, available with manual transmission cars, automatically switches the engine off when the vehicle is stationary and the driver puts the car into neutral. To restart the driver only need engage the clutch again before pulling away in the normal manner. The system may be de-activated at the touch of a button when not required.

Switch Point Display aids drivers of manual transmission MINIs in selecting the most economical gear in which to drive. The engine management system analyses speed, road situation and accelerator pedal position and based on this data calculates optimum gearing. The ideal gear is then displayed by number in the cockpit display.

Even without these technology advancements in place, MINI leads the new car market for year-on-year improvements in clean engine manufacturing. C02 output per car has been reduced in the last year by an impressive 14 per cent. Putting that into perspective, the industry average was recorded at a lowly 0.3 per cent.

Gem??tlichkeit is the warm, comfortable feeling
one receives from pleasant surroundings and atmosphere.
I think you will find that when you come here.
