The Big Red One
Hello all. In preparation for heading to the local vapor blaster I am inspecting and cleaning parts. This bike lived for 20+ years in Nova Scotia and there is lots of salt/weather on the exposed parts, hence the vapor blasting. I have found several unexposed surfaces that also have issues I am working on. Mainly remnants of gaskets that have become part of the cover. The timing chain cover for instance. Besides the gasket material, which has hardened, there appears to be some kind of adhesive that remains even when I have gotten a piece of the gasket loose.

I'm thinking I need to soften this gasket material with something. I have the usual "cleaners" and chemicals and several nearby suppliers of other cleaners if needed.

Any suggestions.
