Metzeler or Avon?

Ran Metzlers forever. Loved the ME99'S, Hated the lazertecs, no mileage. Tried a set of Macadams, they were ok. Then a friend mounted a set of Pirelli sport demons on his RS. During heavy rain he went thru standing water without so much as a wiggle. Later on the trip we hit the twisties in the dry and they performed great. I have since switched and love them.

I just switched my HD from Dunlops to 880 Marathons and the difference was wonderful. I have nothing but good to say about the Metzler 880 Marathon. Haven't ran Avons for so long that I can't even have an opinion on them.

Tires

Just ordered a set of Bridgestone S-11's for the R75/6 rebuild project. Have heard good things about them from the Airhead list. Since the 34 year old Avon's on the bike are hard as a rock, they will have to be an "upgrade" :dance.

2nd this

Agree with this:

Change the tires now. Lay them in the drive in full Sun for awhile and let them get really hot. You can almost mount them by hand. :thumb

Plus one other thing the Avons are very senstive to air pressure - keep them at the right pressure or you will feel the difference.:thumb
