March Madness is a big deal to those that follow basketball. Other than the "guessing of brackets", in an attempt to make the game more interesting, it seems interest is waning and the NBA is proposing changes. The game of basketball has, or seemingly has, mutated into who can recruit the tallest players and then who can hit the basket the best.
While it seems the tallest of players when they are young gravitate to the game of basketball, some "tower" over their classmates that play BB whether its grade or high school. This has caused the "vertically challenged" players to not be able to share in the accolades the more proficient (taller) players receive.
The NBA has been aware of this for some time and has proposed a few changes, the most dramatic being raising the backboard and hoop at NBA sanctioned games by FOUR feet! This move is expected to lower the normal scores from over a hundred or so plus each game to somewhere in the sixty or so points per game.
Apparently this has been a concept that has been under discussion for some time and now that the proposal has been leaked, it's causing some uproar. From the Player's Union to the Odds makers in Vegas, this has caused those involved to be quite angry. Oddly enough, the fans that just like to watch BB have applauded this as it will take a Team running from one end of the court, shooting, and then the other Team run back to the other court and shooting the ball.
It was noted that High School BB games will not be affected as the basics of the play are honed at the HS level. There was reportedly going to be changes at the college level as that is where most of the recruitment and watch for the "best" players is done but not details are currently available.
