Luftmeister shock?

Sorry for the short notice on this but I am going to buy this shock tonight, if all is well.
Am told that it is a Luftmeister shock made by Works. This picture was sent to Works and they say no problem on rebuilding, restoring or just general tune-up.
14" eye to eye, so that matches my stock setup, an 1986 K75C.
Originally off an K100.

Any quick opinions? (other than "anything is better than stock" :doh )

Thanks.

Since Luftmeister has not been in business for sometime, this is obviously pretty old. Is the cost plus the rebuild and shipping cost that much better than going with a new shock?

For some reason, I just wouldn't want any Lufty pieces on a bike I owned....:D

Why?

It was made by Works.

I am having seconds thoughts and am leaning towards a new YSS. (unless I can get it for way under a hundred :D)

My comment was tongue in cheek. It was just the idea of having a product associated with Matt Capri, the former owner of Luftmeister. I never had any Lufty products*, but there are some unhappy folks who did.

*I came close, though; almost installed a set of the infamous "high flow" stainless steel valves in my airhead. But my tech wasn't having it.

OK, I thought that most of those parts were of the 'go fast' stuff.

I'll still take a look see at this shock and make up my mind then.
I was trying to see if anyone here has ever had one or heard of anyone that had one.
It's gotta be better than stock... :bottle

K75 sock

Any one know if the K75 shock is close to a K1100 ?

I got a nice new one from RAM engineering for $265.00 shipped, but it was last January.

This guys does them from a shop and they are K1100 fans. Solid body machined, very clean look, works AWESOME!!! It's on my 93 K1100RS.

Might take a while, but if your interested I could send you his e-mail. He hangs around the K11OG site.

K75S Original Litter

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

How many more of the original litter are still kicking? Anyone??

All US spec K75Ss were frame (VIN) numbered consecutively, starting with the last six #s of 150001.

The original litter from May of 1986 was 150001 thru 150325.

The last of the line was 154600 that was born in September 1994

Where did you guys get those numbers from?

US Spec. K75Cs were first built in July of 1985 starting with the last six #s of the VIN 130001 and they ended in March of 1990 with 133142.

Non-US Spec. Cs started in June of 1985 with 110001 and ended in June of 1988 with 116424.

Give me the last six #s of your VIN and I can tell you when it was built.
