Loud humming/whine from rear?

I picked up a 2019 F750GS a couple of weeks ago, mileage around 600.

While riding, I notice a whining sound that seems to be coming from the rear area of the bike. I've noticed it comes on right around 40 mph, then fades as I accelerate. It tends to come back at around highway speeds.

I experienced a similar noise when I would put a new 70/30 Shinko front on my V-Strom in the past -- the front would whine like that for the first couple thousand miles. But the F750 came with the stock Michelin Anakees, with a much less aggressive tread pattern. Granted, the tires are 5+ years old but, as mentioned above, have less than 1k on them.

The bike's still new to me, so I don't know if this is just a thing with this model/tire, or if it's something I should dig further into.

I suppose you could check your chain alignment and wheel bearings, but I'd vote that it's tire noise with that low of mileage.

It is the tires. I’ve owned several 750/850GS models and they all made noise when new. Takes a couple thousand miles to have it fade away. Mine would quiet down above 4,000 RPM.

Chain and wheel bearings are good -- I'll chalk it up to the low miles on the tires and wait it out.

Already nearly doubled the mileage on the bike...such an upgrade from my Strom!

I would bet on the tires as well. I had Anakees on an R1200GS that were noticeably louder than the tires they replaced.
