I live on a great winding road, 7 miles out, has log trucks, fog, deer, dogs, blind driveways etc. My own driveway is gravel with an uphill sweep, and a water trickle in winter, fun huh?? I haven't seen any serious "jug" protectors for the 1997 older r 1100RS abc out there yet, any ideas before I get the welder fired up?? Gotta go clean the moss off the concrete apron now, but all ideas welcome, ----- Thanks, Cal

I really like the ZTechnik crash bars for my oilhead. Solid 3 point mounting and stainless steel construction make these pretty tough. On the GS or RS you can still adjust the valves without removing them; also a nice feature. My RT valves can also be adjusted however I always re synch the throttle bodies after a valve adjust so I need to remove the fairing which requires me to remove the crash bars also. This has become routine and pretty quick now though.

Thanks, a bit late but Appreciated

I will grab a set of those, this spring. Very effective and not so big as some I've seen, now that I get the Club magazine. Thanks again, Cal

Got the ZT's for my 1150GS - like them a lot.
Not a replacement for full crash bars but they protect a lot better than the BMW OE cylinder guards

Went down at 40mph after hitting a deer last Oct, although the valve cover was rashed badly the ZT guard protected the head from a lot worse damage.
The front mounting bracket was bent but straightened easily.

Just installed a set of ZTs on my R1100RSL a couple days ago that I bought from Bob's BMW and they are great! Shipping was free and only took 3 days to the wet coast FEDEX. The Z-Technics are a bit spendy but worth it imo.

I can remove the RSL side panels without removing the ZTs which is a plus and nice to be able to remove valve covers as well.
