K1200RS-Lowering rider footpegs

I'm on my 5th KRS and have had issues with foot peg location with each of them of one kind or another, especially as regards their relationship to seat height and my advancing age. I'm barely 5'11" and don't have long legs so the lower stock seats are best because they allow foot down stability at rest. In this configuration, though, my knees are bent to the extent that my legs are very uncomfortable after only a couple of hours riding. Even one half inch lower and, possibly, another 1/2" rearward would be a big help. Anybody have suggestions? I know I could have something fabricated at a machine shop but am looking for a less expensive solution, if possible. Thanks

What year is your RS? Later ones have the footpegs lowered from the factory. Earlier bikes footpegs are slighly raised from the center of the mounting pin while late ones are straight.

Lowering rider pegs on K1200RS

Thanks for the resposes to my question. My current RS is a 2001 and is the least comfortable of the ones I've had but perhaps that's because I have the lowest of the stock seats that I've had experience with in the past. I'll contact the "Lair" as soon as I finish this post.

I am pretty sure the '01 has the higher pegs as noted above. The difference is close to an inch. There are different aftermarket kits to lower the pegs and most (not all) come with the necessary linkage revisions you will need so you can still shift, or you can get the later model stock pegs and linkage. For aftermarket, Pirate's lair is THE BEST! (tons of stuff to improve performance, comfort, and looks).

Foot Pegs

I, too, lowered my foot pegs on my KRS. I got the pegs from Pirates and they are very comfortable. They may b e lower but they give more clearance. Also ask Pirates for a shifter lowering kit. One little extension that connects between the shifter arm and pedal. You will need one. You can do all this OR buy a $200.00
BMW comfort seat from Chicago BMW. It isa little higher than stock but more comfortable. Thus your problem is solved. Believe me, I have been through the whole thing. I decided on the following. Sargant seat, lower pegs from Pirates, shifter lowering kit and I'm done. Very comfortable. The comfort seat is less expensive and just as comfortable. I do have a new comfort seat I will sell for $175.00 shipping included if interested.
