Installing an Air Horn - Has anyone tried retaining the OEM horn, while adding a compact Soundbomb or Stebel Nautilus horn?

Bought the Stebel Nautilus Compact Mini Air Horn, and the Denali (SoundBomb) harness/mounting kit (plus their mounting bracket, when I first bought my 2018 RT (Wethead) and was exploring options. That was the path others reported taking. However, I also recall for RT's with the alarm system (and soon to add, the Skene "Alert" system which utilizes the horn to trigger their lights) were unable to use it after adding the air horn, due to loss of the OEM horn.

I'm finally just getting around to installing the horn now.

I've looked around, and haven't see anything specific on this issue, but has anyone tried splicing the blue and white OEM lead that connects the horn, so that it controls both the air horn and the OEM horn (which would need to be relocated elsewhere; the original location under the fork will be occupied by the larger air horn)?

I doubt that there will be CANBUS issues, as the power for the air horn is pulled directly from the battery (via relay). What say ye? Two horns connected to the single OEM horn lead?

2010 K1300GT, I left the OEM horn in place and added a Stebel, using a double-spade connector on the OEM horn to connect to the trigger circuit for the aftermarket relay powering the Stebel. What I ended up with is a slight delay between the OEM horn and the Stebel emitting sound- sort of a mip-MEEP situation that really doesn’t add anything to the decibel level. Noticeable to me on the bike but not so much to others.

If I were adding a Stebel today, I’d remove the OEM horn and bench it for re-install on resale.

I run my soundbomb of the ezcan which keeps the factory horn working as well. In fact you can program a delay where you get factory then .5 second after you get full send on the sound bomb.

On my 2018 R1200RT the OEM horn was not worth keeping; it resides in a landfill not to distant from me. I obtained the Clearwater lighting system, which includes their CANBUS-compatible controller. The controller allows for connection of supplemental brake / running lights (Billie) and front aux lights (Darla and Erica). There is also provision for replacing the OEM horn with a real (and real loud) horn. I used a Stebel horn. I made a small adapter to locate the Stebel horn in a similar location where the OEM horn resided. An advantage of the Clearwater system is the flashing of the Erica aux lights when the horn is pressed. And the Stebel horn is very loud.

‘15 “R”…..did same; trigger Soundbomb with OEM trigger wire. OEM horn left unwired (impossible to get at)!
