Installation suggestions for an Odyssey Battery in an R1100?

I realize that there must be a thread somewhere on the Forum (which I have been unable to find) for installing an Odyssey PC 680 battery into an R1100 or R1150. Since the battery dimensions are smaller than the current BMW battery, what accommodations, if any, are needed to keep this battery in place? It's been awhile since I've installed a battery in my R1100RT and I forget, does the right panel have to be removed or can it all be done from the left? Your advice is much appreciated as I plan on installing an Odyssey this weekend.

Thank you in advance.

Paul -

The first thread in the Similar Threads pane below seems to be right up that alley. See if that helps any!!

I just replaced an older metal-case Odyssey with a brand new PC680 in my 2000 R1100RS about a month ago. The new one is significantly shorter, and the rubber hold-down was loose (or perhaps old, tired, and stretched). I cut some pieces of 1/4" plywood I had on hand -- it took two thicknesses to raise the battery enough to get the strap to hold it securely.
