Inside the BMW Scrambler US Product Launch

Hi All-

Recently I was invited on behalf of MCN to attend BMW's formal US launch of the Scrambler model. The specs and impressions of this bike will soon flood the moto-mags and websites, so I thought I'd focus instead on what it was like to experience the press launch itself. It isn't often that one occurs here in NJ, so here's what it's like to attend...

Mr. Levy

Nice review of the event.

couple thoughts

Hail the Camhead!

Your room appeared to be ... uhhh.. really nice.

So much for wheelies... guess there's no traction control.. or it was turned off..

You mention a dissatisfaction with the front fork.. too harsh
Local BMW sale guy and friend just bought an R9T.
His main concern is the front fork too.. and that's a higher spec unit. More of a performance concern than comfort for him.

Side note, $23,000 per year property tax bill? Is that what I heard?
Holy crap!
Here in flyover country, mine's $2,300 per year.
Wow.. just wow...

Thank you. Yes, the room was quite nice - all the rooms were. BMW truly spared no expense. It was fun! Yes, you can disable the traction control on the Scrambler, and I guess that's how Jason did what he did. I've ridden the R9T and its front suspension is leagues better than the Scrambler. If someone complains about the R9T, they would absolutely hate the Scrambler in that regard. And yes, NJ has the highest property taxes in the USA. Not $23k - yet - but more than a brand new base model R1200RT. Every - single - year.
