How is your weather today?

First decent snow this winter for us in southern Iowa. For me, white snow looks better than dormant grass and trees.
10F right now at 5:50 PM
It snowed a couple more inches after this. I shoveled a path for the mailman.

It's out of focus but it measures 7 inches.

I like how Iowa DOT plows have web cams making it easy to see current road conditions.
This is the north edge of Creston on Hwy 25.

A little snow last night to freezing rain to rain which has softened everything up and generated some fog. 33.6* so over the freeze point is a plus. I need to be careful so I don’t break a hip :hungover …. It’s slippery.

The radio station at the edge of town reported -12 F this morning. I had -8F at the house.
Normally in the winter it's 1 or 2 degree warmer at our house compared to the station.

57*F and raining. Today we have a good chance of gaining over an inch of rain, and have flash flood warnings in effect for the Los Angeles area burn scars. Sigh.

Well, it’s still winter. The last two storms, the forecasters really missed it. This one seems like they got it correct.
Snow started last evening accumulating to around 3”. It made the transition to rain, sleet and freezing rain giving the accumulated snow the texture of cake frosting that has been left out for a few days. My gravel parking area was in rather bad shape from recent ice accumulation so, with the inch + of rain expected, it back on the loader.
Hopefully a snooze to the Daytona 500 starting at 1:30 pm eastern time.

The last 10 days have been below freezing, from 0 to about 20-25F. It's warming this week, just cresting over freezing at 32-37F highs, lows 24F to 27F. Snowed about 2-3 inches Friday, very dry stuff. Started snowing last night and dropped maybe another 3". There was no snow until January this year in N. Idaho, and these last couple of little snow "tweaks" is the closest we've gotten to actual snow.

It's snowing all day today, but temps are at or just above freezing, so it's the sputtering wet slush-snow kind of stuff typical of the American Northwest. I pushed the snow 40' down with a shovel to clear my inclined driveway since it's getting soggy (i.e. HEAVY). The snow blower doesn't like blowing sleet and slush. I'll go out after dark today when the precipitation stops, fire up the snow blower, and clear away the berms. I used the floor squeegee the other day to clear away the slush so that it doesn't freeze up and create a layer of ice over the driveway, and will do that again. This is typical ice-melt weather, but the stuff tears up the concrete, so I avoid it by using the squeegee except for a couple of really slick, dangerous areas, where ice melt is an imperative.

So, yeah, it's snowing and sleeting and raining and cold out, I'm not riding, so I'm bored. 🙄😖 Fortunately, I have plenty of "honey-do" projects that I continue to avoid doing, to keep my mind busy. 😏

I might even be pulling out my box of toys to start prepping the RT for Spring in the next week or so. I have some electrical add-on's to figure out. (Garage space is limited, so I have to pack and unpack the Beemer when I work on it, so I can get the wife's car in the garage. Otherwise, I'd probably have it sitting apart in pieces, to play with all winter long.)

26c…..-40c with the wind chill. This evening we drove 30mins north of town to our favorite pizza joint. It’s cold enough that my warmest sweater, from Ardalanish weavers on the Isle of Mull, wasn’t excessively warm.

26.1* with wind gusting to 45mph. Too dark now to see if the wind helped evaporate any of the 4” deep, 30’ long puddle in the driveway. Now where did I leave my Crampons? ❄️🌧️🥶
