How is your weather today?

Mid 90s yesterday and today in Herman, MO.
Current conditions at home in Iowa is 73F and it rained 3.4 inches in the last 24 hours.

Strange stuff from last Friday while I was in Lebanon. Home Sunday afternoon and wife has escaped the Ohio Valley heat.
She flew to the Florida east coast to get cool... five to seven degrees cooler and a beach!

Currently 80* here between Boston and Providence (Taxachusetts). Of concern is the ocean has warmed ahead of usual timeline. This will allow more time for the ocean to achieve the 70* temperature which is the beginning of perfect conditions for any ocean storms to feed on. :dunno

66.1* currently. :dance
Supposed to remain in the mid-60’s all day. It will be good to give the “bought air” a break.

5:30am it's 76F. Headed to 100F today, yesterday 104F. Monsoons are building up so the humidity is up some. I'll be leaving tomorrow morning for Colorado and then Utah on a 3 week trip and won't see the monsoon rains until I return home to the valley.

Enjoying another 60* overcast June morning. Last couple of days have been a nice break before the heat and humidity return.

Flooding now in the Hunt and Kerrville, Texas area along the Guadalupe River.
It may be a record river level.

We have been in a prolonged drought for about 5 years here in far SW Texas - and now the rain hasn't stopped much for a few days and there is fairly wide spread flooding, mostly roadways and arroyos - not too many structures. But the burn ban is still in effect.

Here's a few reports

At least 13 dead in Kerr County as flooding swamps central Texas

From CNN's Dalia Faheid
At least 13 people died in Kerr County, Texas, after severe flooding inundated the state on Friday, authorities said.

“There’s still several people unaccounted for right now, at this point, but we’re working really hard. And we’re going to continue. This is probably going to be a couple of day process,” Kerr County Sherrif Larry L. Leitha said at a news conference Friday afternoon.

Leitha said he expects more fatalities will be reported in the county.

Helicopters, drones and rescue teams are searching camp area, lieutenant governor says

From CNN's Emma Tucker
At least 14 helicopters and 12 drones and over 500 people from various units are rescuing adults and children out of trees near Camp Mystic in Hunt, Texas, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick said.

“We do not need any more personal helicopters. I know it’s been offered. We do not need more additional assets,” Patrick said.

In addition to the helicopters and drones in the air, Patrick said there are nine rescue teams swimming in the water.

Around 20 kids are unaccounted for at local camp, lieutenant governor says

From CNN's Taylor Romine
There are currently about 20 children unaccounted for at Camp Mystic, which hosts about 750 kids overall, Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick said during a news conference Friday.

“That does not mean they’ve been lost, they could be in a tree, they could be out of communication,” he said.

Debbie and I have stayed many times at the River Inn Resort about 1 mile from Camp Mistic.

54.3* currently…. And being enjoyed. Not too much time left for cool(er) nights.

57* with clearing skies. We'll be taking another ride (sometimes over an hour away) to a breakfast at one of the eclectic menu diners we like to visit followed by some fun winding roads then home in time to get to a comedy show and supper. :dance

Y’all can have all that Gulf of Mexico humidity. It’s gonna be like 80 with 30% humidity here in NorCal. After a few weeks between the Gulf Coast and the Great Lakes, that’s enough humidity for me for a while, I think.

For anyone who has ridden the Texas Hill Country you probably stopped at the Hunt General Store.
It got hit by the flood.

The "disaster waiting to happen" just happened. At least three youth camps with several hundred kids attending were in that river valley when the water level rose from 3 feet to 32 feet in 45 minutes. most made it to higher ground; many didn't. And of course this is only the summer camps. The resident population in the entire valley is also impacted with some loss of life and massive flood damage. This is sad.

Yes, there's a lot of homes very close to the river along that stretch of road.

71* and clear. Forecasted high for the day is 91*. Excellent day for an early ride, which is our plan for today. Then perhaps go to my office (nicely climate controlled with no phone interruptions) and do some necessary paperwork/bookwork since the second quarter of the year ended a few days ago. ✍️

66.6* 😈 this morning. Humidity is up and mid 90’s expected. A bit overcast now, so maybe the heat will gradually build.

Heavy rains in central NC this weekend. I understand the Haw River in Alamance County is flooding and that I40 / I85 is closed for the next day or so due to flooding. It will be slow going for folks expecting to travel on the "super" in that area as the back roads will be crowded with trucks and commuters. Some of the rivers have companies offering tubing trips, don't know how that "adventure" will work out.
