How do I load and use bigger map files than my Zumo 550's resident memory can handle?

I just moved back to Indiana from Arkansas and wanted to switch from the Western region maps to the Northeast, but Garmin Express says I only have enough memory for the Canada-Border States maps. I have heard there is a way to use an SD card to expand the Zumo 550's capacity for maps. If this is true, I would be most grateful for a step-by-step tutorial on how to do this. Otherwise, my Zumo has obsoleted itself.
Thanks, in advance, for any help you can give me.
