Can you believe a friend with a new Harley, the first bike she has ever owned sent me this link? Her bike is so loud you can't even hear yourself think when she starts it up.

My response was:

HAHA, BMW makes the best bikes in the world and everyone knows it regardless whether they can admit it or not. That includes you... ;o]

Old news. This was posted and argued about for many pages, here, days ago.

The humor would have worked if he had wanted a GS but been given a VFR. The way it's written, however, it's not funny. I doesn't even make sense.

Thanks, that was funny :laugh I guess I missed that one last week.

Thanks

On behalf of all of us who only crawl out from under our rocks every couple or three weeks to peruse "The Forum", that was the best laugh I've had in a long time. Thanks for posting it, tardy or not.

And how did that work out for you?

I don't get it. The mods sent this same video to the doghouse HERE

but for some reason this thread still keeps on going?

Gotta wonder.

I saw it in the doghouse after I replied. Am I...?

Anyway, as most people know Hitler was famous for his maniacal rants and insisting on prevailing on topics about which he was way underinformed, or incompentent to address, or too coked up to comprehend. He was poised to rule the western world. It can be argued the tendency to make all the wrong decisions over the objections of better heads saved us from German national socialism*. If you consider he would have been wrong on the topic of GS's as portrayed, it's not hard to find humor in the video.

(*not to diminish the amazing of resolve of Churchill and the Brits while waiting for help from Uncle Sam, and even then it wasn't a slam dunk)

If you like the brand, why would you want to form an assoication with Hitler, spoof or not?
:usa

Enjoying the presentation of a spoof is not association with its subject matter.

Even if it were, in this case it would be reverse association: Hitler was a raving lunatic and didn't like BMW GS's, therefore people who don't like GS's...(also not logical)

I like BMW's, and wish I could ride a GS. I like things that are well made. My association would be with the maker of that video for his clever juxtaposition of themes, and the carefull coordination of subtitles with mannerisms and the German utterances. That's what made me laugh. It could have been pickup trucks or toothpaste he was ranting about; according to historical record, he was prone to such fits on all sorts of mundane topics.

Whistle while you work

The cut is from an excellent movie, "Downfall". The movie is based on the diary and remembrances of Traudl Junge, Hitler's personal secretary. (She died a couple of years ago). (No mention of BMW's in the movie- that part is added, of course as a joke). I would recommend any student of history watch the movie.
