Old time motorsports guy- both bikes and cars. Recently decided to get back in the saddle, found a one owner R69S with service records from a collector/restorer. Had the bike thoroughly gone over by the local specialist here in Austin and it was just finished. I did arrange to have it delivered, partly b/c I did not want my first ride on I35, a nasty piece of highway. I did buy an interim bike while awaiting the mechanic's ministrations-- it's a 650 Royal Enfield Continental Anniversary--same weight and HP, roughly, as the BMW, but modern. Am looking forward to riding the BMW. The mechanic told me the clutch was quite heavy- the collector had redone a lot of things, including replacing the clutch with a hard disc, rather than sprung. In the meantime, here's an image taken as the bike arrived home. Look forward to learning, connecting, and hopefully, contributing here. Did join the local BMW Rider's Group (which is "Hill Country,"considered the playground of Central Texas).
