Grown man WRESTLES home run ball away from young Guardians fan!

Rays sideline reporter Ryan Bass is being praised for stepping in to brighten a young Guardians fan’s night after she had a home run ball wrestled away from her by a grown man in an embarrassing display during Monday’s game against Cleveland. The man eventually gave the ball back to the young girl several innings later, Nikki DeVoe, the girl’s mother, revealed in a Facebook post late Monday night. The moment was captured by the Rays broadcast during the bottom of the fifth inning after the Guardians’ Daniel Schneemann hit a two-run home run to right field at Progressive Field.

Rays reporter praised for classy gesture after grown man wrestles baseball away from young girl.

Rays reporter Ryan Bass was hailed for his gesture to a young family in the Progressive Field crowd during Tampa Bay's 3-2 victory over the Cleveland Guardians on Monday night.

One fan left Progressive Field on Monday night hanging his head in shame.

Cleveland Guardians utility player Daniel Schneemann hit a two-run home run to give Cleveland a 2-0 lead over the Tampa Bay Rays in the bottom of the fifth inning.

The baseball sailed toward a grown man in the crowd, who then proceeded to drop the ball which saw it bounce several feet to his left, where a young girl - who can't have been older than 10 years old - attempted to pick it up.

The man, though, went over and wrestled the ball away from the girl, which left Tampa Bay play-by-play announcer Andy Freed, color commentator Brian Anderson and reporter Ryan Bass furious.

“No! He’s not gonna steal that!” Freed said, clearly stunned as the broadcast showed a replay of the interaction that unfolded in the stands.

“Yeah, that can’t happen,” Anderson chimed in.

Bass then took matters into his own hands, and presented the young fan with a baseball of her own.

“Well, when you’re seeing something wrong has occurred, it’s nice to make up for it,” Freed said. “And Ryan Bass making up for that Cleveland fan by going out and making friends. And she deserves that baseball.”

“What a guy,” Anderson replied. “What a guy.”

“Look at that. She looks emotional with the sunglasses on,” Freed continued as the cameras showed the girl, who at this point, appeared to be in tears. “Mom giving a hug. What a sweet moment. Way to go, Ryan.”

That’s phenomenal,” Anderson said.

“They didn’t show it, because we had gone to break,” Freed explained. “The boy, who I imagine is her brother, had gone up to that fan. And it looked like he was asking the fan, ‘Can we reconsider?'”

Man who drove Tesla Cybertruck into lake says he's done it before. This time he got stuck — and went to jail.

Jim McDaniel will face charges after driving a Cybertruck into a Texas lake to test the vehicle’s “Wade Mode” feature, according to police.

GRAPEVINE, Texas — A man who intentionally drove his Tesla Cybertruck into Grapevine Lake on Monday night said he had used the truck's "Wade Mode" before without any issues but went too deep this time and got stuck.

Police arrested Jimmy Jack McDaniel, 70, after he and two visitors from Germany to whom he was giving a ride became marooned near a boat ramp around 8 p.m. Monday at the lake, which is just north of Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport.

Grapevine Police said he faces charges of operating a vehicle in a closed section of the park. He also faces boat-related charges including not having a valid boat registration and not having lifejackets or a fire extinguisher on board the truck.
McDaniel told a reporter that the issue was not with the Cybertruck itself, which he said he has driven in the lake before and even driven in the Atlantic Ocean without problem.
This time, he said, he made a "miscalculation" and went too deep while taking out for a spin a German father and son who were visiting his neighbor. All three escaped from the truck through the window, video showed.
McDaniel said he believes water got into the truck's charging port, which caused a short and the steering system to shut down. The Grapevine Fire Department Water Rescue Team later towed the truck out of the lake, police said.

"Don't drive into the water with your vehicle," said Grapevine Police Media Manager Katharina Gamboa. "Didn't think I'd have to say that one."
She said it was a safety issue, both for the people on board and anyone on the shore.
"We have children on these shores, we have families visiting the lake," she said. "It's a safety risk."
McDaniel said a crew has returned the Cybertruck and that he is hopeful he will be able to drive it again.

Lucky that water didn't get in directly to the battery... could've been another Darwin List entry.
