First world dilemma. To RT or not to RT

in answering your original post I should have asked if you have checked the GS’s steering head bearings. Have you? Handlebar-mounted windscreens typically shake the forks more than frame-mounted fairings.

Having owned an ‘86 R80RT a ‘79 R100RT and a ‘71 R75/5 with a Vetter Windjammer, I rate them, noise-wise: Windjammer first, R80 second and R100 third. Cruising all day at 80 mph was about the same on all three. The ‘80s suspension was the best,
 
Josh sez in post 1 paragraph 3 that yes he did R&R those bearings.
But their actual "squish" adjustment, AND that of the swingarm bearings, will certainly affect the wobbbles...
