Emptied the New Bike Fund and now I'm a BMW owner

Hello from Flyover Country!

I've been riding for around 15 years -- started on a 1983 Honda Nighthawk 550, then went to a 1998 Kawasaki ZG1000 Concours. Most recently I put 45K+ on a 2012 Suzuki DL650 V-Strom.

Last year I had the great opportunity to do a week-long ride in Europe, and my rental was an F750GS Sport. I fell in love (with both the Alps and the bike) and vowed it would be my replacement for the Strom.

Here I am, a little over a year later, and my dream is fulfilled. I picked up a 2019 F750GS with only 600 miles on the clock. Oh, my word, what an upgrade from the Wee! Don't get me wrong, the DL650 is a great bike and I really loved my time riding it. But the F750 is just so much MORE in so many ways.

I've only had the bike for a few days, so I'm still in the steep part of the learning curve (ESA? TFT? TPMS? -- it's acronym overload!). Expect me to be a regular presence elsewhere in the forum, cuz I gots lots of questions. But I can't think of a more fun way to get educated.

Welcome aboard! I got to ride an F750 for a few days as a dealer loaner. Light and nimble, was a blast to ride. Enjoy!

Welcome! I put about 30k miles on an F700GS. One of the few bikes I regret selling.

Somewhat similar tastes, I put almost 80k on an SV650 before moving to the Bavarian moto maker!

Willkommen Kirch, from the Space Capital of the Universe! :wave

Enjoy your nearly-new GS in the months & years to come! My personal Air Marshal put 170K on her previous '09 F650GS, and she hated to see it go {I do not miss the chain & sprocket maintenance}. If U feel the need for off-road training, U should certainly request a Paul-B training stipend from the MOAF before taking said coursework. There's much to be said for Free $$$... We used it to attend the BMW Off-Road Training school in SC years ago [and we put those skills into practice along the sandy backroads of the Badlands N.P. -
